No matter the role, the work of an Ingalls shipbuilder is both complex and inspiring. In the latest episode of the Inside Ingalls podcast, we sit down with veteran Fatina Brave, director, Talent Acquisition & Workforce Development, to talk about the shared sense of mission that connects servicemembers and shipbuilders.

“Being an Air Force veteran, I have the experience on the side of being the warfighter,” said Fatina. “So, I show up every day with the end in mind, knowing every decision I make will impact our warfighters somehow, some way.”

WHY IT MATTERS
Fatina draws a direct line between her military service and her work at Ingalls, reminding us that every job across the shipyard contributes to the same purpose: protecting those who serve.

“In the military, we swore to protect and defend our nation. When I was hired here at Ingalls, I again swore to protect and defend our nation,” she said. “Every weld, every drawing, every decision will eventually end up with a completed ship that will have men and women aboard our ships protecting our country.”

THE TAKEAWAY
Regardless of your position, every Ingalls shipbuilder plays a role in defending the nation. Through her leadership and example, Fatina reminds us that service takes many forms and that excellence in shipbuilding is one of the most meaningful ways to serve.
