The Big Picture: Our 2025 summer interns got a deeper look into the mission, people and culture that make Ingalls unique during the annual Intern Social on June 10.
- Interns connected with each other and fellow shipbuilders
- Learn about Ingalls and shipbuilding through hands-on experience, mentorship and collaboration
Why It Matters:
- Networking: Early relationships lay the foundation for collaboration, mentorship and growth
- Mission & Purpose: Understanding the magnitude of the shipyard’s mission helps interns see how their work fits into the bigger picture, leaving them with a deeper appreciation of the legacy they’re stepping into as shipbuilders
Event Highlights:
- Shipbuilding Contest: Interns formed teams and used materials like cups, plastic wrap, pipe cleaners and more to craft a ship
- Lights of Hope: The interns’ service project for this year will raise money for the American Heart Association by selling luminaries
- Be on the lookout soon for details on how you can help!
What They’re Saying:
- Danielle Tillman, Student Intern, Human Resources & Administration: “It was nice reconnecting with a few of the other interns I met at orientation and others from different departments. I also enjoyed the shipbuilding contest. Competitive, but fun building our ships out of cups, plates, etc. It was nice working with other people and seeing our ideas come together.”
- Joshua Davis, Student Intern, Business Management: “ Everyone was so welcoming and it was awesome meeting interns from different departments and networking. The highlight was definitely the ship competition and collaborating with new people and winning with our boat, the SS Circle, was such a fun and motivating experience.
