The Big Picture: The Facilities & Maintenance department recently hosted an engagement event to show appreciation for their shipbuilders.

  • Engagement is essential to a strong, high-performing workforce—and it starts with meaningful recognition.

Why it Matters: Facilities & Maintenance celebrated safety performance and highlighted a banner year with zero recordable injuries year-to-date.

  • Twelve shipbuilders were recognized for completing the first phase of the 2025 Craftsman Development Program

What They’re Saying:

  • Justin McArthur, Director, Facilities: “[The Craftsman Development Program] is voluntary and is intended to develop skills within our represented workforce. This will prepare them for advancement within the department and the company.”

  • Darren Hopkins, Heavy Duty Mechanic: “I found the courses to be challenging, enlightening and educational. I’m thankful I am able to learn and grow here at Ingalls and look forward to a future I know will be filled with even more great opportunities. It truly is a humbling experience to be part of this shipbuilding family.”
