Ted Kneten’s unparalleled dedication to Ingalls stems from his service within the U.S. Coast Guard. With nearly a decade of experience, Ted is motivated to support the safety and security of our country as a supplier quality analyst.
“I’m responsible for auditing suppliers that are critical to the supply chain needs of Ingalls,” said Ted. “My team validates that the deliverables adequately support the strict U.S. Naval and Coast Guard vessel guidelines.”
Ted understands a supplier’s stellar performance directly benefits the current state and future sustainability of our shipyard. This includes his ability to reduce issues on equipment and mitigating risk at the supplier location; prior to shipping to us in the yard.
“The standardized auditing template for Ingalls is a great example of how important my role is,” said Ted. “The template mirrors best practice components of Newport News, was incorporated into command media, streamlining the auditing timeline by 50 percent.”
Ted uses the “If you’re good then we’re good” approach with suppliers. This illustrates his mentality of building strong suppliers that support the strongest military in the world.
“He’s a unique and rare shipbuilder to say the least. He consistently surpasses my tasking baseline,” said Dennis Tingle, supplier quality manager. “I know every product he provides is going to exceed my quality expectation.”
Outside of the shipyard, Ted provides a good life for his wife and young son. He has also obtained certifications in welding inspection, inspection of non-destructive testing and even earned a private pilot license! He wants to continue to lead by example for many shipbuilders to come.
“Everyone that walks through our gates every day doing the difficult work deserves recognition,” said Ted. “To be chosen as a candidate for this feature proves the company cares about us.”
Thank you, Ted, for truly exemplifying the mantra “Quality Matters.”
