The crew of USS Richard M. McCool, Jr. (LPD 29) now have a beautiful, custom watercolor painting to enjoy as they complete missions aboard the vessel.
The custom watercolor of the ship was created in honor of the ship’s commissioning by Erinn Carty, manager, Branding & Art Production. The painting was presented to the ship’s commanding officer, Capt. Jeffrey D. Baker, during events celebrating LPD 29’s commissioning over the weekend.
“I had the honor of painting a watercolor, which is my passion,” said Erinn. “I’m so grateful I was trusted to create a piece of art that's given to the ship captain in honor of this milestone from all of us.”
Ingalls’ presentation of the watercolor to the captain and crew of LPD 29 that not only honors the shipbuilders who worked on the vessel but also commemorates the time the crew spent working with them. Erinn had the idea to create a custom watercolor painting of the ship.
“This painting represents all of our great shipbuilders, so the art had to meet the same standard as our ships,” she said.
A 25-year shipbuilder herself, Erinn has created multiple pieces of art featuring the shipyard over the years, including the watercolor that was distributed to shipbuilders at Family Day in 2023.
