No matter the role, the work of an Ingalls shipbuilder is both complex and inspiring. On the newest episode of the Inside Ingalls podcast, we sit down with Alicia Davis, welding general foreman, to talk about her role as a highly engaged shipbuilder.

From the time she became a shipbuilder, Alicia knew that Ingalls is where she belongs.

“I came in at the very bottom, fourth class at the time,” said Alicia. “As time went on, I realized I was at a place of caring, a place of building, a place that does important things for our military, so I made my decision to stay.”

Now, years later, Alicia continues to make leadership choices that are intentional in an effort to better connect with her team.

“I have to make sure that my team and I are doing an exceptional job for our customers,” she said. “When you have integrity and when you're engaging with them and you allow them to be themselves, we can come together as one and it gets the job done. Everyone is appreciative of the interaction that we have together and it just makes for a good team.”

From being a part of Culture Connectors and Ingalls Champions and more, Alicia goes above and beyond to be an active volunteer in the Ingalls community.

“My drive is, first off, making sure that everyone is inclusive. I want everyone to know that my volunteering is to really be there to help someone, really be there to encourage someone,” said Alicia. “And not only that, my promise to God is to do his will. And that’s to get out in the community, do some volunteer work, and make sure I am engaging and that every step I take and volunteer for is for the better good.”
