As Ingalls shipbuilders we hold the unique responsibility of building ships to keep our country and our service members safe. In recognition of our collective patriotism, we will implement a 4x10 work week for the week of July 1, 2024, for ALL shipbuilders in celebration of the July 4th holiday.

What does this mean for each of us?

Shipbuilders represented by a union:

  • July 1-3, 2024: 10-hour workday (30 hours)
  • July 4, 2024: Paid holiday (10 hours), shipyard will be closed
  • July 5, 2024: Shipyard will be closed

Shipbuilders not represented by a union:

  • July 1-3, 2024: Schedule will be set by your department leadership
  • July 4, 2024: Paid holiday (8 hours), shipyard will be closed
  • July 5, 2024: Requires 2 hours of PTO or supervisor-approved FLEX to be taken (equivalent hours worked previously in that week); shipyard will be closed

The production and operation schedule will be as follows, unless otherwise directed by your supervisor:

1st shift:  5:00 am until 3:30 pm, with a lunch break from 10:00 am until 10:30 am

2nd shift: 3:00 pm until 1:30 am, with a lunch break from 8:00 pm until 8:30 pm

Enjoy your holiday!
