Nearly 30 nations and thousands of armed forces participated in this year’s Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) exercise, including several Ingalls-built ships. Seen above, multinational ships sailed in formation on July 22 off the coast of Hawaii during the exercise.
Notable Ingalls-built ships that participated in the exercise included USS Kidd (DDG 100), USS William P. Lawrence (DDG 110), USS Somerset (LPD 25), USS Princeton (CG 59), USCGC Midgett (WMSL 757) and support ship USNS Pecos (T-AO 197).
In all, 29 nations, 40 surface ships, three submarines, 14 national land forces, over 150 aircraft and more than 25,000 personnel participated in RIMPAC 2024, which took place in and around the Hawaiian Islands from June 27 to August 1.
The world's largest international maritime exercise, RIMPAC provides a unique training opportunity while fostering and sustaining cooperative relationships among participants critical to ensuring the safety of sea lanes and security on the world's oceans.
RIMPAC 2024 is the 29th exercise in the series, which began in 1971.
